Delish Express to open today

It's about time.
Delish Express, a new sandwich restaurant targeting Capitol-area lunch business, will open today, said owner Virgil Sadorra.

Located at 1599 1/2 Washington St. E., it’s housed in an extensively renovated building with indoor and outdoor-patio seating.

The menu is built around sandwiches of sliced meats and vegetarian fillings on panini, focaccia and ciabatta breads, or in tortilla wraps. Fixings include carrots and avocados to artichoke hearts and caramelized onions, and specialty cheeses, “infused” butters and mayonnaise and a variety of sauces

Hey, thanks for the news. I've been out of town so I missed the Gazette article. I can't believe it's been open for a week and I haven't been there yet! I drove by this evening and the place looks great. He really improved the look of that building, and I love the big neon arrow. And it has - gasp! - outdoor seating! Does anyone know what the hours are? Because this evening they looked closed.

It was the best $10 sandwich I've ever had. It is good, but no Chicken Satay.
