Corrupted PC's Find New Home in the Dumpster
Corrupted PC's Find New Home in the Dumpster - New York Times
The sad thing is buying a new Windows box won't get rid of adware. Adware targets Windows machines. A clean install of Windows will get rid of adware. Then a free product like Microsoft's Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) will keep the machine clean. Windows AntiSpyware is still in beta and it's not perfect, but it works pretty darn well.
The story reports one user was so tired of pop-ups that she purchased a $3,000 Apple laptop. Three grand seems like a lot of money when she could have switched platforms for $499 by purchasing a Mac mini.
One could switch platforms without a hardware purchase by installing Linux.
There's no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
