Charleston Knitting Graffiti Artist

MinniPurl strikes on Capitol Street. There are a few of these around from what I've been told. And the Charleston Daily Mail has a story on this artist and her art today.

We were inspired last year by the work of knitta and started added to a local tree, but this year it really took off and the locals are not only loving it but participating and adding their own pieces. It sure brightens up a dull grey day. We have a pic on our, jafagirl, website (not a commercial/sales site) if you want to see it :)

LOVE the whole concept and while I am not a knitter, I am excited to see how knitting has moved beyond the traditional and into some pretty exciting art and public art.

I was driving to work last week and noticed the cozy on a tree outside the public library. I've been struck by an overwhelming sense of ennui lately, but seeing this brightened my morning.

I love the tree/door handle/post sweaters, too! They add a very tactile, warm feeling to everyday, downtown objects that could otherwise seem bland or cold.
